At the last meet before the Division III New England Championship, some Judges found success in running under-distance, while others needed to qualify to extend their season.
Led by event wins in the women's pole vault, the men's 400 meters, the men's decathlon, and the men's 4x100m and 4x400m relays, the men's team earned 4th and the women's team earned 8th overall.
At the Amherst Spring Fling, Emily Bryson, Scott Grote, and Irie Gourde combined for 4 event wins, leading the men's team’s charge to 3rd place and the women’s team’s charge to 7th.
The women’s team tied with UMass Boston for 7th place (40 points) while the men earned 9th place (44 points). In addition to Ogundiran’s 800m victory, eleven Judges scored individually as well as both teams’ 4x400m relays.
This weekend, the Judges will host the UAA Championship at Gosman Sports & Convocation Center. The Judges, coming off of third and fourth place finishes at the 2016 UAA Cross Country Championship, hope to emulate these results.
After winning four New England titles between them, senior Irie Gourde of men's track and rookie Tamir Zitelny of men's swimming and diving have earned their first UAA Athlete of the Week honors of the year.
Irie Gourde scored 18 points for the men, winning the 200 and placing second in the 400, while Emily Bryson earned her first New England crown in the mile, edging the defending champ by 0.39.
Jack Allan (pictured) set a PR in the heptathlon in his first collegiate attempt at the seven-event, while Churchill Perry won the triple jump on his final attempt with the best distance in the UAA.
