Norton leads men's cross country past Bentley in season opener

WALTHAM, Mass. - Brandeis University sophomore Paul Norton (Amherst, Mass.) was the individual race winner today as the Brandeis men's cross country team defeated Bentley College at Weston High School. The Judges took a 19-42 decision.

In the first race of a dual meet with the Brandeis and Bentley women, Norton led the Brandeis men, the No. 29 team in the nation in the most recent USTFCCCA Division III poll with a time of 18:03 over the 6K course. He was followed by fellow sophomore Zach Schwartz (Newtown, Conn.) with a time of 18:23 and senior Mike Stone (E. Falmouth, Mass.) in 18:23. Bentley junior Andy Watson (New Milford, Conn.) and sophomore Dan O'Connell (Medfield, Mass.) took fourth and fifth places, respectively, with times of 18:27 and 18:31, but the Judges had the next six finishers to earn the victory. Sophomore Kerwin Vega (Waltham, Mass.) led that pack with a time of 18:36.
