Norton places third, men's x-country fourth at UMass-Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Running with a slightly limited roster, the Brandeis men's cross country team, ranked No. 13 nationally and third in New England, finished in fourth place at the UMass-Dartmouth Shriner's Invitational. The Judges finished behind Keene State, ranked No. 7 in the region, Southern Maine (ranked No. 27 in the nation and No. 4 in the region) and Stonehill College, ranked No. 13 in Division II.

Leading the way for the Judges, who only had five runners competing, was junior Paul Norton (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional). Norton was third overall, second among Division III runners, with a time of 24:43 over the five-mile course. A pair of sophomores, Chris Brown (No. Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) and Marc Boutin (Westford, Mass./Westford Acad.) were the team's next top finishers, coming in 13th and 24th, respectively, with times of 25:20 and 25:30. Junior Devon Holgate (Cumberland, R.I./Cumberland) was 29th with a time of 25:34, while classmate Sam Donovan (Newton, Mass./Newton South) gave Brandeis five of the top 50 runners with a 48th-place finish in a time of 26:07.
