WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Brandeis men's cross country team came in in ninth place for their best team finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regional since 2011. Competing at Williams College, the team finished eight places higher than they did in 2013, thanks to a strong performance by their rookie class behind senior Jarret Harrigan (Ipswich, Mass./St. Johns Prep). The Judges' 324 points were 30 ahead of 10th-place Wesleyan and showed an improvement of more than 150 points over 2013.

Harrigan finished the 8K race 45th out of 373 runners, a five-place improvement from 2013. His time was 26:32.9, a bit behind his previous performances at New England on a cold blustery day.

Sophomore Quinton Hoey (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) had terrific improvement from his rookie showing at New England. He finished 57th overall with a time of 26:45.1 a year after coming in 75th. Rookie Ryan Stender (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) was right behind Hoey in 60th place with a time of 26:49. Classmate Mitchell Hutton (Villa Park, Calif./Villa Park) was fourth on the team and 68th overall with a time of 26:55.7, giving the Judges a 33-second spread between their first and fourth runners. Junior Grady Ward (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) took 94th place in 27:22.4 to close out the Judge scorers.

Sophomore Matt Doran (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) and rookie Liam Garvey (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) were Brandeis's sixth and seventh runners, placing 115th and 135th, respectively.
