Hutton leads men at UAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass.  –  Brandeis University sophomore Mitchell Hutton (Villa Park, Calif. / Villa Park) was the team's top finisher for the first time in his career today, just missing out on his first career All-UAA honor by less than two seconds as the Judges placed seventh overall at 2015 University Athletic Association championships at Franklin Park in Boston.

Hutton covered the 8K course with a time of 25:40.44, missing out on the top 14 by 1.76 seconds. He had been the squad's second finisher in his previous two races. Hutton was Brandeis's fourth finisher at UAAs a year ago as a freshman and 54 seconds faster.

Classmate Liam Garvey (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield), was second on the team this year, taking 31st place with a time of 25:57.57, more than a minute and a half better than his 2014 performance at UAAs.

Junior Quinton Hoey (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) took third on the team and 36th overall with a time of 26:06.34 in just his second race of the campaign. Junior Matt Doran (Hopedale, Mass. / Hopedale) and sophomore Roger Lacroix (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) rounded out the Judges' scorers, placing 46th and 49th with times of 26:23.37 and 26:23.90, respectively

Brandeis finished in seventh place with 173 points, with Lacroix's placement serving as a tiebreaker with 8th place Rochester. No. 22 Carnegie Mellon won the team title with 53 points, defeating No. 17 Washington University, who had 68, and ending the Bears' five-year winning streak at UAAs. Chicago was 3rd with 78 points, edging No. 21 NYU, with 81. Emory (122) and Case Western Reserve (151) were fifth and sixth.

WashU senior Josh Clark won the title easily with a time of 24:55.20, more than six seconds ahead of Lukas Mees of Emory (25:01.67). Clark was fourth at last year's meet.
