No. 7 WashU softball defeats Brandeis, 11-3

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Brandeis University softball team fell to No. 7 ranked Washington University, 11-3, in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest in the Seminole County Softball Complex today.

Brandeis (2-5, 1-4 UAA) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when rookie 3B Samantha Worth (Londonderry, N.H.) singled home senior SS Mari Levine (Hopkinton, Mass.), who led off with a double.

WashU (10-0, 6-0 UAA) responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame, leading off with a home run to tie the game. A double up the middle three batters later put the Bears ahead, with a throwing error tacking on another run.

The Judges got back to within 4-3 in the top of the fourth as junior C Christina McWilliams (Billerica, Mass.) brought home a run on an infield error, while a bases-loaded walk by senior LF Elissa Glucksman (Stamford, Conn.) cut the lead to one. WashU scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth and another in the bottom of the sixth to end the game prematurely.
