Softball pounds Regis, 13-2 and 12-2

Brandeis started the day against Regis and had little trouble, outscoring the Pride, 25-4, and outhitting them, 20-7, en route to 13-2 and 12-2 victories. IN game one, rookie 3B Danielle Lavellee (Sutton, Mass.) went 2-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while classmate 2B Melissa Cagar (Ridgewood, N.J) was 2-2 with two RBI, two runs scored and two doubles. The Judges had five two-baggers in the first contest.

In game two, Brandeis was able to take advantage of wildness from Pride hurler Cortney Coles (Wareham, Mass.), as they drew seven walks in addition to their nine hits. Coles also had six wild pitches. Cagar went 3-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while sophomore pitcher Allie Mussen (Franklin Square, N.Y.) improved to 3-0 by allowing just three hits and striking out nine in five innings of work. She also went 2-2 with two RBI at the plate. Coles had Regis's big hit with a home run in the third inning.
