2010 — Çagar started at second base in all 39 games of the season. Defensively, she was two one-hundredths of a point off from setting a career fielding percentage record, committing only five errors in 154 chances for a. 968 fielding percentage. On offense, Çagar once again set the tone for the Judges as lead-off and amassed the third highest on-base percentage (.431) the fourth-highest slugging percentage (.545) on the team as a fully tooled hitter. She set a career high while leading the 2010 squad in runs scored with 44. She also was one of only a few Judges that finished with more walks (20) than strikeouts (16). Çagar finished the season ranked 16th in the country in stolen bases with 30 on the season which nearly quadrupled the total of her next closest teammate and 34th overall in runs per game after leading the team with 44. Çagar had an eight-game hit streak toward the middle of the season. For her efforts on the year, Çagar earned a Third Team All-New England selection and was named First Team All-Association. 2009 — Çagar showed no signs of slowing down coming into her sophomore season after her breakout freshman year. At the plate, Çagar led the Judges in numerous categories including batting average (.426), runs (39), hits (63), and on-base percentage (.469). She was a terror on the base paths, swiping 32 bags in 33 attempts, ranking her ninth in the country in total stolen bases and first in the UAA conference by nearly double. In the field, Çagar committed only nine errors in 197 chances for a .954 fielding percentage. For her efforts on the year, Çagar was named First Team All-Region for both the NFCA and NEISCA as well as ECAC First Team All-Star. In addition, she was named First Team All-Tournament and First Team All-Conference. 2008 — Starting in all but one game at second base as a freshman, Çagar transitioned quickly to the collegiate game. Hitting .358 on the year with a .558 slugging percentage, Çagar led the team in doubles (13), tied for triples (2) and homeruns (4), and was the only player to reach double digits for stolen bases (10). Her first collegiate career homerun was a three-run shot on March 26th against Simmons College. On the defensive side of things, Çagar committed only five errors in 155 chances for a .969 fielding percentage. Çagar was named Second Team All- Conference and Third Team All-Region for her freshman effort. High School — Çagar lettered three times in softball and twice in volleyball, serving as captain her senior year in both sports. Throughout her high school softball career, Çagar was the starting second base player and three-hitter. Çagar was a three-time All-County softball selection for Bergen County in addition to being named All-League and All- Suburban. Çagar helped her team claim the 2005 Bergen County and NNJIL Championships as well as the 2006 NNJIL and State Sectional Championships. In addition, Çagar played summer ball for the Bergen Blazers. Personal — Born Melisa Safiye Çagar on March 21, 1989 to Virginia and Cengiz Çagar. Prefers to be called “Mikey.” Has seven sisters, Kim, Karen, Lauren, Ashley, Nicole, Heather, and Amanda.
