Brandeis softball places eight on UAA 30th Anniversary Teams

WALTHAM, Mass. – Throughout the course of the 2017-18 academic year, the University Athletic Association (UAA) will be releasing its 30th Anniversary teams, honoring the best student-athletes from the first 30 years of the Association. Brandeis softball has had eight alumni named to the anniversary team, which was released on Tuesday.

Among the Judge honorees were Brandeis Hall of Fame outfielder Sara Albert '04 and first baseman Melissa Jones '99. Catcher Erin Ross '10 and outfielder Amanda Genovese '15 joined Jones as four-time All-UAA selections. Other honorees for the Judges included catcher Jessee Boyce '00, infielder Melisa Cagar '10, outfielder Tricia Gomes '97, and shortstop Erica Peterson '97.

The 30-Year teams were named by assigning two points for each spot on an All-University Athletic Association first team and one point for the second team. Each student-athlete who accumulated five points was selected to the team, as were all players who earned Most Valuable Player or Most Outstanding Performer honors.
