Three Brandeis University women's basketball players scored in double figures today as the Judges bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 71-42 win at Carnegie Mellon in University Athletic Association play in Skibo Gymnasium.

The Judges (10-1, 1-1 UAA) trailed just once in the contest, early, when Carnegie Mellon (5-7, 0-3 UAA) hit an early 3-pointer after the Judges had drawn first blood. Brandeis scored the game's next seven points and never looked back. They were ahead by as many as 16 points before taking a 33-23 lead into the locker room thanks to 11 points off of 13 CMU turnovers. Brandeis opened the second half on a 14-2 run over the first 5:37 and the lead never dipped below 20 point after that.

Senior Caitlin Malcolm led Brandeis with 16 points on five-of-eight from the floor with a 3-pointer and five-of-eight from the line. She also blocked three shots for the second straight game. Rookie Jessica Chapin (Mendon, N.Y.) threw in 13 points off the bench and recorded a team-high three steals. Junior Jaime Capra (Old Bridge, N.J.) was the third to reach double figures with 10 points. Junior guard Kiersten Holgash (Easton, Pa.) led the squad with six assists, while sophomore Amanda Wells (Loudon, N.H.) had five rebounds. Brandeis finished with 29 points off 21 Tartan turnovers. The Judges shot 68% (13-19) from the floor in the second half en route to 48% for the game (22-46)

Carnegie Mellon was led by 11 points from sophomore Jeanette Schilling (Houston, Texas), nine of which came in the first half. Classmate Ashley Rothwell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led all players with 10 rebounds and just missed a double-double with nine points. Sophomore Stacie Aleski (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a game-high six assists for the hosts.
