WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University senior guard Jaime
Capra (Old Bridge, N.J.) led all players with 24 points and grabbed
eight rebounds tonight to lead the host Judges past Wheaton
College, 59-46, in non-conference women's action tonight.
Brandeis (6-2) got a fine all-around performance from Capra, who
hit 10-of-18 from the field, including two-of-four from 3-point
range, and both free-throw attempts. Two of her eight rebounds came
on the offensive glass, and she also led the team with four
assists. Capra scored 15 of her points in the first half as the
Judges established a 29-22 lead before the break. Junior forward
Lauren Orlando (Peabody, Mass.) was the only other Brandeis player
in double figures with 10 points, eight coming in the second half.
Senior guard Kiersten Holgash (Easton, Pa.) led all players with a
career-high 11 rebounds, while sophomore guard Jessica Chapin
(Mendon, N.Y.) had five steals, nine points and three assists.
Wheaton (3-3) was paced by junior forward Krystin Hickey

field with a trifecta and four-of-four from the line. Classmate Bri

double figures with 10 points, while sophomore guard Andrea Bailey

Brandeis fell behind early, 9-2, after 3:13 had elapsed, but the
Judges answered with a 15-2 run over the next seven minutes to take
a 17-11 lead they would never relinquish. After taking their
seven-point halftime lead, the hosts held Wheaton to just one field
goal over the first 14 minutes of the second half to take command.
Brandeis held the Lyons to just 17 percent shooting from the field
in the second half (5-29) and 25 percent for the game (14-57). The
Judges also dominated the boards, 53-33, and points in the paint,
32-14.
The Judges are next in action on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when
they host Williams College, while Wheaton hosts Roger Williams
University at 1 p.m. the same day.
