  • Kendrew adds D3hoops.com third-team All-New England honors

    Junior Morgan Kendrew collected All-New England honors for the first time in her career this season. The second-team All-UAA guard was a third-team All-Region selection by D3hoops.com.
  • Kendrew, Strodthoff named to All-UAA women's basketball team

    Junior Morgan Kendrew and senior Amber Strodthoff were selected to the All-University Athletic Association women's basketball team for the second time in their careers today. Kendrew was a second-team selection, while Strodthoff earned honorable mention honors.
  • Women's hoops seniors go out in style with 57-54 win at NYU

    Behind the play of seniors Amber Strodthoff and Mia DePalo, who combined for 32 points and 14 rebounds, the Brandeis women's basketball team fended off host NYU to earn a 57-54 victory in New York City. The win was just the third ever for the Judges in the Big Apple, but their second in a row. Brandeis closes the season at 12-13.

    The Brandeis women's basketball suffered their third-straight loss today, dropping a 79-47 loss at the hands of Washington University, the No. 9 team in the nation. The Judges had three different players score seven points and another three tally six.
  • Women's hoops can't hang with No. 8 Chicago in second half

    The Brandeis women played a tight first half against eighth-ranked Chicago, a stanza that featured nine lead changes and three ties. But the Maroons had the better of play in the second, outscoring the Judges, 43-31, en route to a 70-54 victory. Brandeis was paced by Mia DePalo and Courtney Ness with 11 points each. It was a career-best for Ness.
  • Women fall to Case, 49-45, in home finale

    Despite 13 points from Morgan Kendrew and 11 from senior Mia DePalo, the Judges couldn't close out Case Western Reserve in a 49-45 loss in the season's final home game. Brandeis owned a six-point lead early in the second half, but the Spartans used a 10-0 run and turned back a pair of Judge surges to take the win.

    The Brandeis University women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak in a come-from-behind win against Carnegie Mellon University. The Judges defeated the Tartans, 59-54.
  • DePalo dangerous from deep, but it's not enough against #18 Rochester

    Senior guard Mia DePalo went 4-for-4 from 3-point range to lead the Judges in scoring with 14 points, but 18th-ranked Rochester used a pair of big runs, including a 22-2 streak to end the first half, to take an 80-51 UAA women's basketball victory.
  • Judges settle for split with Emory after 72-55 setback in Atlanta

    Despite a game-high 16 points from junior Morgan Kendrew, the Brandeis women couldn't overcome host Emory's balance in a 72-55 Judges' loss in Atlanta. Four different Eagles scored in double figures as the hosts shot a scorching 71 percent from the floor in the second half to pull away.
  • DePalo's big day can't derail No. 12 Rochester, as women fall, 61-50

    Senior Mia DePalo had 10 points in the first half and 11 in the second, giving her 21 for the game, but it wasn't enough to overcome 22 in the second half by Rochester's Melissa Alwardt as the Judges fell to the 12th-ranked Yellowjackets, 61-50, in a UAA contest. DePalo eclipsed her previous career-high by eight points, but UR's 25-5 edge in free-throw scoring made a big difference as well.
  • Women break out of slump with 76-67 win over Emory

    Junior Morgan Kendrew tallied a career-high 26 points, senior Amber Strodthoff had 13 points and four rebounds for her third double-double of the season and rookie Kasey Dean had the team's high performance of the season with eight assists in her first collegiate start as the Judges broke out of an offensive funk with a 76-67 win over visiting Emory tonight.

    Against their second-straight nationally-ranked opponent, the Brandeis women's basketball team fell into a deep hole early in the game in a 66-36 loss to No. 9 Washington University. Rookie Julia Scanlon led the team with nine points off the bench and also tied for game-high honors with four rebounds.

    For the second-straight game, the Brandeis women's basketball team was held below 40 points, as the Judges dropped a 71-38 decision to 16th-ranked University of Chicago. Senior Amber Strodthoff led the Judges with eight points, while rookie Julia Scanlon pitched in with seven.

    For the first time this season, the Brandeis women's basketball team failed to get a scorer in double figures as the Judges dropped a 56-38 loss at Case Western Reserve University. Junior Kelly Ethier topped the Judges with eight points, while the Spartans snapped a 14-game losing streak in the series.

    Junior Morgan Kendrew scored all 20 of her points in the second half, while senior Mia DePalo had 10 of her career-high 13 after the break as the Judges rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Carnegie Mellon, 65-62, in Pittsburgh. Brandeis won its 18th in a row in the series.

    The Brandeis women saw their five-game winning streak halted today at the hands of rival NYU, 71-61. The Judges got 16 points from Morgan Kendrew, nine in the first half, and 12 from Amber Strodthoff, but the Violet's connected on 50 percent from the floor in the second half to claim the win.

    Senior forward Amber Strodthoff had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Judges' first double-double of the season as the Brandeis women's basketball team won their fifth-straight game with ease, 81-29, over Lasell College. Junior Morgan Kendrew led all players with 16 points in the squad's non-conference finale.
  • Brandeis women close out 2010 with 63-46 win over Husson in Shapiro Gym

    Playing in Shapiro Gym for the first time since 1990, the Brandeis women dominated the boards en route to a 63-46 win over Husson. The Judges outrebounded the Eagles, 52-29, including 22-8 on the offensive glass and outscored the visitors, 25-8, in second chance points. Sophomore Samantha Anderson led the board brigade with a career-high 12 caroms.
  • Women's hoops closes out first semester with 67-41 win at ENC

    Junior Morgan Kendrew outscored the entire Eastern Nazarene team in the first half, 12-11, as the Judges opened a 36-11 lead and cruised to a 67-41 win in Quincy, Brandeis closes its first semester with a 6-3 record, having won three in a row.

Senior forward Amber Strodthoff (pictured) just missed a double-double with eight points and season-high 13 rebounds. The Judges, who posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season, improve to 5-3.
  • Ethier rallies Brandeis women past Emmanuel, 72-67

    Junior guard Kelly Ethier made some key plays down the stretch, including the game-winning basket on a put-back and steal and pass that set up an important 3-pointers as the Brandeis women came back from an eight-point second-half deficit to defeat visiting Emmanuel College, 72-67. Ethier finished with 14 points, four assists and three rebounds.

    Despite 17 points from junior Morgan Kendrew and a career-high 12 rebounds from senior Mia DePalo, the Brandeis women's basketball team let a second-half lead slip away for the second time this season, falling to host Tufts University, 54-51, in the Judges' first road contest of the season.
  • Balanced attack leads Brandeis women past Wellesley, 48-37

    Ten different Brandeis players scored buckets tonight as the Judges defeated Wellesley College, 48-37, in non-conference action. Senior Mia DePalo was the only player in double figures with 10 points, while sophomore Shakara Scott had seven off the bench. The Brandeis reserves outscored the Blue, 16-0.
  • Kendrew leads Judges again with 16, but RIC sinks women's hoops, 66-49

    Despite a team-high 16 points from junior Morgan Kendrew and 12 from classmate Kelly Ethier, the Brandeis women's basketball team suffered a 66-49 defeat at the hands of Rhode Island College in the championship game of the Judges Classic. Kendrew and Ethier both earned All-Tournament honors.

    Eleven different players scored points for the Brandeis women as they dominated Connecticut College, 68-36. Top scorers were junior Morgan Kendrew (11 pts), rookie Janelle Rodriguez (9 pts, 6 reb, 4 stl), junior Kelly Ethier (8 pts, pictured) and senior Amber Strodthoff (8 pts). The Judges will take on Rhode Island College, who defeated Springfield, 80-64, tomorrow at 3 p.m.
  • Women's hoops pushes #13 Babson to OT before falling, 62-59

    Junior Morgan Kendrew had her second straight big second half, scoring 16 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer with less than three seconds left on the clock, but it was No. 13 Babson who got the last word with a 62-59 victory in Auerbach Arena. Kendrew finished with a career-high 21 points and team-best six rebounds.
  • Kendrew's 18, Scanlon's 12 lead women's hoops past WPI, 55-46, in season opener

    The Brandeis women's basketball team used a 15-2 run late in the second half to turn a six-point deficit into a seven-point lead as the Judges defeated WPI, 55-46, in their season opener. Junior Morgan Kendrew had 18 points to tie for game-high honors, while rookie Julia Scanlon added 12 in her collegiate debut.
