Women's Basketball Drops a Tight One to Westfield State 76-74 in the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament Final

In the final of the Brandeis University Tip-Off Tournament presented by the Park Lodge Hotel Group, Westfield State bested the Judges with a final score of 76-74. The Judges got ahead early, leading 37-26 at the half. Their lead was up to 17 points in the third quarter when Westfield State came firing back. The Owls chipped away at the Brandeis lead, closing the margin in the third quarter. The fourth quarter comeback by Westfield State culminated in a Kierra McCarthy lay in with two seconds left in regulation to give the Owls a 76-74 lead. 

The Judges were led by seniors Maria Jackson who tallied 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Frankie Pinto whose 4 three-pointers helped her total 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. 

 

Westfield State was paced by Jill Valley who finished with 30 points and Kierra McCarthy who finished with 14, including the game winning layup. 

 

The 12pm consolation game final score was RIC 62, Wentworth 52.
