WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's basketball team was unable to salvage a weekend split in this weekend's University Athletic Association contests, as the Judges dropped a 101-67 contest to visiting Washington University in Red Auerbach Arena today. Brandeis drops to 6-9 overall, 2-3 in the UAA, while Washington remains atop the conference at 11-5, 5-0 UAA.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brandeis had three players score in double figures, led by a career-best 14 points from rookie forward Kerry Tanke (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan). She hit 6-of-9 from the field and both of her free throws. Eight of her 14 points came in the second half.
- Rookie Maya Burris (San Francisco, Callif./Loomis Chaffee School) added 12 to tie he career-best. In her first career start, Burris scored seven points in the first quarter and 10 of her 12 in the first half. She was 5-for-6 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers.
- Sophomore guard Camila Casanueva (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) also had 12 points, seven coming in the second half.
- Senior Sarah Jaromin (E. Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) led the Judges with five rebounds and tied with sophomore Sophie Trachtenberg (Oklahoma City, Calif./Classen School) with three assists.
- Five different WashU players scored in double digits, with Stephanie Botkin netting 20 and Kristina Schmelter adding 15 off the bench.
- Schmelter also pulled in a game-high eight rebounds, while Botkin had seven boards.
- Becca Clark-Callendar had 10 assists to lead the Bears.
- WashU shot 58.8% from the field for the game (40-68), including 67.7 percent in the second half (21-31).
- The Bears also controlled the boards, 37-30, and won the turnover battle, 17-10.

- The Judges hit the road to finish up the first half of conference play next weekend, traveling to Emory on Friday, January 25, for a 6 p.m., game, with a 1 p.m. tip at Rochester next Sunday.
