WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's basketball team couldn't overcome a tough afternoon shooting the ball as the Judges dropped a 67-55 decision to Case Western Reserve University on Senior Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED (CLICK FOR VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

  • The Judges and Spartans were tied at 20-all after one period. The Judges got seven points from sophomore guard Camila Casanueva (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) in the first.
  • The stanza featured four ties and three lead changes, with the last tie coming on an Emma Cain jumper to beat the buzzer for the visitors.
  • CWRU used that momentum to get off to a fast start to the second period. The Spartans scored eight points in just over 90 seconds, with seniors Kara Hageman and Hillary Hellman each burying a 3-pointer.
  • The teams would trade buckets on the next three possessions, but Hellman scored six-straight points to make it 37-24 in favor of CWRU with 4:14 left in the half. The Spartans took a 40-31 lead into the locker room.
  • Brandeis would climb no closer than eight points in the second half as CWRU kept the Judges at bay by not allowing them to shoot better than 30 percent in any quarter.
