CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Rookie back Margot Moinester (Memphis, Tenn.)
had a goal and an assist today as the visiting Brandeis University
women's soccer team defeated Case Western Reserve University, 2-0,
in the University Athletic Association (UAA) opener for both teams
today. Brandeis improves to 6-2-1, 1-0-0 UAA with the win, while
Case falls to 3-6-2, 0-1-0 UAA.
Moinester scored her first collegiate goal just 44 seconds into the
contest. Her shot from about 25 yards away sailed over the head of
Spartan Lauren Gaeta (Parkton, Md.). Moinester helped the Judges
double the lead in the 41st minute when she sent a ball through the
middle that set up senior forward Lauren Gregor (Holliston, Mass.)
for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Brandeis sophomore netminder Betsey Medow (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.)
made five saves for the Judges for her third solo shutout of the
season. Gaeta also had five saves in the losing effort.
