Jasak scores twice to lead women's soccer to 2-0 UAA win over NYU

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University senior midfielder Sarah Jasak (Middletown, N.J.) scored a pair of goals today to lead the host Judges to a 2-0 victory in their regular season finale against University Athletic Association foe New York University on a rain-swept Gordon Field.

Brandeis (10-6-2, 3-3-1 UAA) got all the scoring they would need in the 27th minute. Senior forward Tzlil Castel (Boston, Mass./Beaver CDS) controlled the ball as Brandeis had the advantage. She slotted the ball to Jasak, who took one touch and blasted the ball past NYU senior keeper Katie Barnes (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin). It was Jasak's team-leading seventh goal of the season.

The Judges added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute. With the wind at Brandeis's back to create added pressure, senior midfielder Kalina Ehrenreich-Piot (Boulder, Colo.), just off the bench, dribbled in and took a shot. Barnes stopped the initial attempt, but Jasak was there to knock home her second goal of the game, giving her three multi-goal games on the season.

NYU (10-6-2, 1-5-1) nearly got a goal back in the final two minutes on a shot by rookie Laura Palumbo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) off a corner kick, but Brandeis sophomore netminder Hillary Rosenzweig (Boca Raton, Fla.) made a fine one-handed save. Rosenzweig finished with four saves to record her fourth shutout of the season. Barnes made six saves in the losing effort for the Violets, while junior Rebekah Kramer (Middletown, Del.) had one save in seven-plus minutes of action.
