WALTHAM, Mass.- Brandeis University sophomore Mimi Theodore of Walpole, Mass., has been selected as the University Athletic Association women's soccer offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 18.

Theodore, a midfielder/forward, had three of the Judges' five goals in a 1-0-1 week against UAA foes. On Oct. 15, she scored the team's only goal in a 1-1 draw with Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Theodore broke the scoreless tie in the 66th minute when she broke through two defenders and found the back of the net.

Two days later, Theodore notched her second career multi-goal game in a 4-2 win over Emory University in Atlanta. Her goal in the 58^th minute broke a 1-1 tie and opened the floodgates, as Brandeis scored three times in less than 10 minutes. Her first goal came when junior Sofia Vallone of Westport, Conn., sent a ball towards the goal that Baecher misplayed when she came off her line. Theodore was on the spot to head it home. She added a second goal in the 67^th minute, converting a free kick off the foot of rookie back Stevie Phillis of Nashua, N.H.

With her three scores, Theodore claimed the team lead with eight goals on the season and 20 points. She is tied for third in the UAA in overall goals and tied for fourth in points. Her three goals and six points in UAA contests are tied for the league lead.

As a team, the Judges own a 7-4-3 record, 1-2-1 in the University Athletic Association, with four games remaining. They have a non-conference contest at Bowdoin College at 3 p.m. on Thursday before closing out the regular season with three-straight home UAA games. They currently sit in sixth place in the league, but are just three points behind third-place Chicago, who comes to Waltham next weekend. The Judges are coached by Denise Dallamora, who, in her 30^th season on the sidelines, registered her 250^th career win over Emory.

Theodore, who is joined on the team by twin sister Ali, is a 2008 graduate of Walpole High School. She is the daughter James and Mary Theodore, Walpole, Mass.
