WORCESTER, Mass. (courtesy Clark University sports information) – Visiting Brandeis University scored three first-half goals en route to a commanding 5-0 victory over host Clark University in non-league women's soccer action on Saturday evening.

Sophomore forward Dara Spital (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep), who scored the game-winner for the Judges in Friday night's season-opening win over MIT, continued the stellar start to her season with three assists, including a pair in the first half as Brandeis broke open the game with their three-goal outburst over a 12-minute span.

The Judges got on the board in the 21st minute when Kelly Peterson (Houston, Texas/Clear Lake) scored off of a feed from Alec Spivack (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto Senior).

Less than five minutes later Brandeis was at it again, this time as Spital set up Mary Shimko (Bay Village, Ohio/Lake Ridge Acad.) for the first of her two markers on the day.

The third goal of the first half came when Spital fed Holly Szafran (Newton, Mass./Newton North) for her first collegiate score at 32:18.

It took just 42 seconds into the second half for Szafran to collect an assist as she connected with Sapir Edalati (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South), making the score 4-0.

The scoring wrapped up 3:03 later when Spital notched her third helper of the contest on Shimko's second tally of the contest. It was her first collegiate multi-goal game.

The Judges controlled the ball for most of the contest, launching 22 shots on the Clark goalkeeping duo of freshmen Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, Md.) and Corrie Desrosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Brandeis sophomore Michelle Savuto (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) made one save in the second half on the only shot on net for the Cougars.

Brandeis, now 2-0 on the season without having allowed a goal, will play host to Roger Williams on Wednesday, while Clark remains in Worcester to host Framingham State.
