McDaniel claims second-straight UAA Offensive Player of the Week honor

WALTHAM, Massachusetts — For the second week in a row, Brandeis senior forward Lea McDaniel of Phoenix, Arizona, has earned University Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week honors.

McDaniel scored five goals for the Judges last week as they went 3-0. She scored the game-winning goal – her third of the season – in the 14th minute of a 1-0 win at Bridgewater State University on September 6. Two days later, in a 9-0 win at Regis College, McDaniel tied two school records with four goals and eight points. After scoring the game's second goal in the 20th minute, she registered a hat trick in the second half. With goals in the 47th, 49th and 51st minutes coming in a span of 3:31, McDaniel tallied the eighth-fastest hat trick in Division III women's soccer history.

With seven goals and 14 points on the season, McDaniel currently leads the UAA. Her three game-winning goals are tied for second in Division III.

Brandeis is 5-0 on the season, having not allowed a goal in 450 minutes so far, including two straight games in which they have not allowed a shot. The Judges, ranked No. 12 in the nation by D3soccer.com and No. 13 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, take on Eastern Connecticut State University tonight at 7 p.m. and Wentworth Institute of Technology Thursday at the same time.

McDaniel is a 2013 graduate of Chaparral High School.
