NEWTON, Mass. (courtesy Lasell Sports Information) Sophomore Makenna Hunt (Tyngsboro, Mass./Tyngsboro) scored two goals and classmate Juliette Carreiro (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) collected two assists Saturday afternoon to lead Brandeis University to a 4-0 victory over Lasell University in non-conference women's soccer action at Taylor Field.

The Judges (5-2) scored twice in less than a minute in the first eight minutes, both on crossing passes from the left side by Carreiro. She fed Hunt on the near side for her fifth goal of the season at the 7:13 mark, then delivered a ball to junior Daria Bakhtiari (Wilmington, Mass./Central Catholic) on the far side, and Bakhtiari blasted the ball into the top right for her second goal of the season to make the score 2-0.

Brandeis extended the lead to 3-0 less than three minutes into the second half when rookie back Ruby Siegel (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) finished off a corner kick from classmate Caroline Swan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine Richard) for her first career goal. Hunt finished of the scoring in the 66th minute with a beautiful strike from 30 yards out the found the upper left corner of the goal. The multi-goal game was Hunt's third of the season and her team-leading sixth goal. The Judges have produced a two-goal scorer in each of their five wins this season.

Lasell (2-5) prevented further damage when senior defender Olivia Austin (Burlington, Mass.) kept the ball out of the goal with a header along the goal line midway with 23 minutes remaining.

The Lasers nearly got on the board with seven minutes remaining when freshman Angele Garcia (Middlesex, Mass.) broke up a kick by the Brandeis keeper and directed the ball towards the goal before it trickled wide left.

Brandeis finished with a 19-9 advantage in shots. Senior Victoria Richardson (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) played the first half in goal for the Judges and earned the win without making a save, while sophomore Rebecca Gold (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) was credited with four saves in the second half.

Lasell used three keepers in the game, and all three made two saves. Sophomore Angela Sanzari (North Haven, Conn.) played the first half, and seniors Kyla Bragg (Sanford, Maine) and Hayden Wheeler (Hubbardston, Mass.) split time in the second half.

Brandeis returns home to host Wellesley College on Tuesday, September 24, at 7 p.m. The Lasers return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference competition on Wednesday, September 25, hosting the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) at 4 p.m. at Taylor Field.
