CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's soccer team registered its fourth-straight shutout tonight as the Judges scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 non-conference victory on the road at Lesley University. With the win, the Judges improve to 8-2 on the season, while the Lynx fall to 8-2.

The Judges got all the scoring they would need in the 26th minute when rookie Caroline Swan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine Richland) netted her first goal of the season and of her collegiate career. The goal came after a Brandeis corner kick when Lesley was unable to clear the ball after an initial Judge shot hit the crossbar. Brandeis would outshoot Lesley, 8-1, in the first half, with the Lynx not getting their shot until the 42nd minute. Brandeis's best opportunity to extend their lead in the first half came in the 36th through 38th minutes, when the Judges hit a post and had two balls cleared off the line by the Lesley defenders.

The hosts turned the tables a bit in the second stanza, getting the first shot on goal after the intermission, but it was Brandeis who struck again. In the 57th minute, senior Emma Spector (Needham, Mass./Needham) found sophomore Juliette Carreiro (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional), who buried her sixth goal of the season. Carreiro is second on the team in goals scored and tied for first with 16 points.  The lead would stand up as Brandeis senior Victoria Richardson (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) made three second-half saves.

Richardson finished with four stops as the Judges registered their fourth-straight shutout. It was her second solo shutout of the season. Brittany Gaan made four saves for Lesley in the losing effort.

Brandeis returns to action on Saturday at 11 a.m. when they take on Carnegie Mellon in the University Athletic Association opener for both teams. The match will be part of Brandeis's Homecoming festivities.
