All-UAA Women's Soccer Selections
Caroline Swan, First team
Juliette Carreiro, Second team
Daria Bakhtiari, Honorable Mention

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three members of the Brandeis University women's soccer team have earned All-University Athletic Association honors for their performances in 2019. Rookie Caroline Swan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was a first-team All-UAA selection, while sophomore Juliette Carreiro of Upton, Massachusetts, was a second-team choice. Junior midfielder Daria Bakhtiari of Wilmington, Massachusetts, earned honorable mention recognition.

Swan was one of the Judges' top two-way players this season as a central midfielder. She started all 18 games as a rookie and finished with a goal and five assists – tied for team-high and fifth in the conference – for seven points. Swan registered points in four-straight games midway through the season, collecting assists against Lasell, Wellesley and Emmanuel before scoring her first collegiate goal against Lesley University on Oct. 2, a game-winner in the 26th minute. Swan also picked up an assist against Eastern Connecticut State University, then contributed her first UAA point in the Judges' season finale, a 1-0 home win over NYU. Swan was responsible for taking many of Brandeis's corner kicks and free kicks.

Carreiro was the Judges' top scorer this season as a forward, finishing with eight goals and five assists for 21 points. She tied for sixth in overall scoring, seventh in goals and fifth in assists. She had one goal and one assist in UAA play, scoring the game-winner in a 2-0 win against Case Western Reserve and adding an assist in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the University of Chicago. Carreiro was named UAA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10 after scoring four goals and an assist in two games, a 3-0 win over Bridgewater State in which she had two goals, and a 7-0 victory over Johnson and Wales in which she had two goals and an assist.

Bakhtiari, who was a second-team All-UAA selection as a sophomore, was another strong defensive midfielder. Skilled at winning 50/50 balls and headers in the air, Bakhtiari was third on the team in scoring with six goals and three assists for 15 points. She also had three goals and an assist in conference play, tied for third in goals and fourth in points. Her UAA goals came in a 2-0 win over Case Western Reserve, a 3-2 loss at Rochester, and a 1-0 win over NYU, when her goal in the 63rd minute proved to be the game-winner.

The Brandeis women's soccer team finished with an 11-7 record this season, 2-5 in the UAA. The Judges tied for fifth place in the league standings. In head coach Denise Dallamora's 40th season at the helm, the Judges missed out on the NCAA tournament for the first time in five years and just the third time in the last 10 campaigns.

Swan is a 2019 graduate of Pine Richland High School.

Carreiro is a 2018 graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School.

Bakhtiari is a 2017 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
