Carreiro named Brandeis's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University women's soccer forward Juliette Carreiro of Upton, Massachusetts, has been selected as the Judges' 2023 nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

An All-Conference and All-Region forward, Carreiro led the Judges in scoring for the second year in a row. She finished with nine goals and six assists for a career-best 24 points, including three goals and an assist in University Athletic Association play. Carriero had a point in 13 of the team's 17 contests this season, including a two-goal game in a non-conference contest against Roger Williams. She scored her UAA goals against Case Western Reserve, Emory and NYU. Carreiro finished her career with 25 goals – only the 14th player to reach the milestone – and 71 points, finishing ninth on Brandeis's career list.

Off the field, Carreiro boasts a 4.0 grade-point average as a psychology and biology double major. She was named Brandeis's top Scholar Athlete last year and returned in 2022 for a final season of eligibility granted by the NCAA because of COVID-19.

Carreiro was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American for the second time in her career earlier this season. She was Carreiro was one of just nine women's soccer student-athletes from Division III who earned a second Academic All-America accolade this year and she was one of 13 honorees who boasted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.

Carreiro is just the seventh student-athlete in Brandeis history to earn multiple Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators. She is the first to do so since Marianne Specker '12 of the softball team in 2011 and 2012. Carreiro joins Specker; Ben Doyen-Charon '04 (men's soccer); Mariko Tansey-Holbrook Neveu '02 (track and cross country); Aaron Holley '97 (track and cross country); Kelly Williams '87 (softball); and Mark Beeman '85 (track and cross country) as Judges' multiple honorees.

The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service, and leadership.
