Meet the Coaches

Denise Dallamora
Head Coach

Just completing her 38th season, Denise Dallamora is the only coach in Brandeis women’s soccer history. She boasts a career record of 355-272-72 ranking her ninth among active coaches in career Division III victories and 14th all-time. She began the soccer team in 1980 and Brandeis has developed into one of the most highly regarded Division III programs in the country, earning some of the highest accolades from the United Soccer Coaches:  The Women's Committee Award of Excellence in 2014, just the third Division III coach to receive the award since 1999; the Division III National Coach of the Year, in 2016; and in 2017, a scholarship was named in her honor, granting one female coach free tuition to a United Soccer Coaches' coaching course or to the national convention in January. Dallamora has led the Judges to the postseason in 15 of the past 16 campaigns, including the NCAA tournament in seven of the last nine.

In 2016, she guided Brandeis to its best start in program history, as they went 12-0-1 and ascended into the NSCAA Division III top 10. After finishing the regular season with a 13-3-3 record, ranked 23rd in the nation, the Judges earned their third-straight at-large berth to the Big Dance. They went on the road and defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0, and #5-ranked College of New Jersey on PK, 4-2, after a 1-1 draw. Brandeis earned the right to host sectionals and took advantage, knocking off #15 McDaniel, 1-0, and #1-ranked William Smith, 4-3, to reach the Final Four for the first time in program history. The Judges fell to eventual champions and conference foes Washington University, 2-1, in the semifinals to end their campaign at 16-4-4, tying the school record for wins in a season. After the season, Dallamora was honored by the United Soccer Coaches as the National Division III Coach of the Year.

Mary Shimko
Assistant Coach

Mary Shimko has just completed her second season here at Brandeis. She returned to Waltham to join the Brandeis women’s soccer coaching staff in early 2017. In her first & second season on the sidelines, she helped the Judges to the NCAA tournament, their fourth-straight bid. In 2017, the Judges reached the second round before falling to eventual national champions Williams. Shimko came to Brandeis after spending one season as an assistant coach for College of the Holy Cross. Prior to her time at Holy Cross, Shimko spent two seasons as an assistant coach for Smith College, where she helped the Pioneers to a pair of NEWMAC Tournament appearances. Shimko is a 2014 Brandeis graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Business, earning her Masters of Science in Exercise Science and Sports Studies from Smith in 2016. She owns an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and her USSF D License.  She was selected to be a part of the Women's Coaches Alliance Mentorship Program, where she completed a nine-month mentorship course. She is also the head coach of the NEFC-Breakers 2001 Central Elite Team, along with assisting with 2002 Central Elite Team. Shimko has also coached for the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program. Shimko is leading the department's efforts to develop a student-athlete leadership program.
