Women's swimming tops Clark, 129-114, on senior night

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Brandeis University women's swimming and diving team won nine of 13 events against host Clark University to earn a 129-114 decision. The Judges, who improved to 5-3 on the season, handed the Cougars their first dual-meet loss of the season on a night when Brandeis honored its Class of 2009.

The Judges had three multiple winners on the night. Rookie Angela Chui (Toms River, N.J./Peddie School) led the way with wins in three freestyle events. She captured the 100 in 55.66 seconds, the 200 in 1:59.69, and the 500 in 5:20.99. Classmate Julia Derk (Greeley, Colo./Greeley West) took the 50 free in 25.90 seconds and the 200 backstroke in 2:15.64. Junior Hollis Viray (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) posted wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.62) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.11) while also placing second in the 1000 free (11:00.28).

Junior Siobhan Lyons (Leominster, Mass./Notre Dame Acad.) added a win in the 200 butterfly (2:16.28). Seniors Rachel Nadas (Raleigh, N.C./Enloe) and Leah Lipka (Fairbanks, Alaska/Fairbanks) also contributed on the Judges' senior night. They teamed with Derk and Lyons to win the meet-opening 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:20.61. Nadas posted a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, while Lipka placed second in the 200 IM. The team's third senior, Alix Lifka-Reselman (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt), placed third in the 3-meter diving and fifth in the one-meter event.

Brandeis Swimming and Diving seniors
