Women's swimming tops WPI, 148-137, with three multiple winners

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Senior captain Leah Lipka (Anchorage, Alaska) was one of three multiple winners as the Brandeis women's swimming and diving team defeated WPI, 148-137, as the Judges won nine individual events and a pair of relays.

Lipka captured both backstroke events, taking the 100-yard back in 1:08.05 and the 200 in 2:24.52. Rookie Angela Chui (Toms River, N.J.) continued her impressive rookie campaign with three wins in two different disciplines. Chui took the 50-yard freestyle in 26.01 seconds, the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.30, and the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.72. Classmate Julia Derk (Greeley, Colo.) was the team's third multiple winner, capturing the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.65 and the 200 individual medley in 2:21.63.

The Judges had a pair of single-event winners in juniors Hollis Viray (Glastonbury, Conn.), who won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:19.55, and Rachel Sawicki (Wilmington, Del.), who took the 100 free in 58.99 seconds. Brandeis also won the 400 medley relay in 4:25.06 and the 400 free relay in 4:10.65.
