WALTHAM, Mass. - The Brandeis University women's tennis team won the last two matches on the court nearly simultaneously as the Judges rallied from deficits of 2-1 and 4-3 to defeat cross-town rival Bentley College, 5-4, on the Rieger Tennis Courts today.

Brandeis (1-0) won its first dual match of the season thanks to late wins and late service breaks by senior captain Gabrielle Helfgott (Newton, Mass.) at No. 2 singles and rookie Sarah Richman (Sewickly, Pa.) at No. 4. Helfgott won the last four games of her match to earn a 7-5, 6-1 victory, while Richman took the last three games in a 6-4, 6-3 triumph. Helfgott and sophomore Mackenzie Gallegos (Friendswood, Texas) were the only players to earn two points for the Judges. They teamed for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles, with Gallegos taking a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 3 singles. Sophomore Rachel Rosman (Bonita Springs, Fla.) won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, in the quickest match of the day.
