WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Brandeis women's tennis team got a three-set victory at No. 2 singles from senior Gabrielle Helfgott (Newton, Mass./Noble & Greenough), but it wasn't enough as the host Wellesley College Blue, ranked No. 19 in the nation, defeated the Judges, 8-1 today.

After winning her first set and losing the second, Helfgott battled back to earn the lone Brandeis point, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. The Judges dropped all three doubles matches, and had one other chance at a singles victory. Sophomore Rachel Rosman (Bonita Springs, Fla./Estero) took the first set at No. 1, but ultimately lost in three, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.  It was just her third loss in a dual match this season.

With the loss, Brandeis falls to 8-5 on the season, while Wellesley improved to 17-5
