MIDDLEBURY, V.T. - The No. 30 Brandeis University women's tennis team split their two matches played at Middlebury College in Vermont this past weekend.  The Judges fell, 8-1 to No. 12 Middlebury and swept Connecticut College 9-0. Brandeis' record after the weekend stands at 6-3. 

The Judges struggled against the Panthers, winning only one match.  Rookies Roberta Bergstein (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) and Alexa Katz (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends) defeated their opponents 8-4 in the third spot of doubles action.  Brandeis also had a close match in the sixth seed of singles, where junior Nina Levine (Westport, Conn./Staples) forced her opponent into a super tie-breaker before falling 6-2, 4-6 (13-11).

Brandeis didn't lose a single match in their 9-0 victory over the Camels on March 13.  Senior Rachel Rosman ( Bonita Springs, Fla./Estero) and sophomore Faith Broderick ( Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) got the ball rolling in doubles, with a 8-2 win in the first spot.  With a 3-0 lead going into singles action, Rosman and Broderick topped their opponents in the first and second slots.  Senior Mackenzie Gallegos (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) went 6-1, 6-4 over her opponent in the third seed.  But rookie Allyson Bernstein (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) had the standout performance of the day going undefeated in her match in the fourth spot.

The Judges are in action again on March  23 when they host Babson College.
