CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The fifth-seeded doubles team of sophomore Carley Cooke (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) and senior Faith Broderick (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) advanced to the third round of the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournament held at MIT.

One of four teams with the 5-8 seed designation, Cooke and Broderick cruised in their first-round match, 8-1, over Han and Konkel of Mount Holyoke. In the second round, it was the Wheaton tandem of Lyndsay Cooke (no relation to Carley) and Alexandra Marlowe on the other side of the net. The Judges took an 8-5 decision, and faced the top-seeded duo of Curran and Shoemaker in the quarterfinals. The Williams team earned an 8-3 victory en route to winning the entire tournament. 

The Judges were not as successful in singles action. Broderick had a tough draw in singles action, facing 2011 finalist Maria Pylypiv of Williams, and the Eph prevailed, 6-0, 6-4.

Cooke, who snagged a 9-16 seed, rolled over Jessica Seidman of Wesleyan, 6-2, 6-0, in the first round, but in the second round dropped a marathon match to Samantha Gann of Tufts, 5-7, 6-2, 10-4, with the final set decided in a super tiebreaker. It was the second three-set loss of the season to an opponent from the Jumbos for Cooke.
