HARTFORD, Conn. -- For the second time this season, the #24 Brandeis women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to #21 Trinity (Conn.) College. The teams previously met in Waltham on April 5.

This time around, sophomore Carley Cooke (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) avenged a loss to the Bantams' Melita Ferjanic from that previous meeting with a three-set victory, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. The Judges also picked up a point at third doubles, where juniors Allyson Bernstein (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Marissa Lazar (Hewlett, N.Y./Lynbrook) were 9-7 winners.

Brandeis also dropped a trio of three-set matches at singles. At No. 2, senior Faith Broderick (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) and Trinity's Hillary Hoyt each won a set by a 6-4 score before Hoyt won six in a row in the third. Bernstein won the first set against Morgan Feldman, 7-5, but lost the next two sets both by 6-1 scores. At No. 6, junior Alexa Katz (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends) fell in a third-set supertiebreaker against Frances Cameron, 6-1, 4-6, 10-8.

Brandeis falls to 7-7 with the loss, while Trinity improves to 9-4. The Judges are off until next Saturday when they travel to Bowdoin College.
