#28 WTennis knocks off #21 Babson, 6-3

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The 28th-ranked Brandeis women's tennis team took care of its second higher-ranked team in five days today, as the Judges defeated #21 Babson, 6-3, in the Gosman Athletic Center. The Judges improve to 5-8 with their fourth win in five matches. Babson falls to 15-7.

Brandeis took a 2-1 lead after doubles action. Senior Carley Cooke (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) and rookie Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J./Laurel Springs) rolled at the first spot, 8-1, while rookie Charlotte Aaron (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia) and sophomore Sarita Biswas (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) were 8-6 winners at No. 3. Babson got their first point at second doubles from Kylie Kam and Jenny Quenard, 9-7. 

In singles action, Brandeis took two of the first three matches to go up, 4-2. Senior Simone Vandroff (Moss Beach, Calif./Half Moon Bay) took a 6-3, 6-2, decision at No. 3, while Cooke defeated Alex Freeman of Babson, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1. The Beavers earned their second point at No. 2, where Quenard outlasted Cohen, 6-4, 7-5. 

In the third round of matches, Brandeis again took two of three. Junior Emily Eska (Princeton, Mass./Wachusett Regional) lost just two games at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0, while classmate Maya Vasser (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) won, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 5. Babson won the evening's final match, with Dina Weick earning a 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 6. 

Brandeis is back in action on Thursday afternoon against Wheaton (Mass.). Babson is off for two weeks before facing third-ranked Williams.
