#31 Women's Tennis Rolls Through Wheaton, 8-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – The #31 Brandeis women's tennis team defeated the Wheaton Lyons 8-1 on Friday afternoon. The Judges improve to 5-6, while the Lyons fall to 5-11.

Brandeis started off phenomenally, dominating doubles action on the indoor tennis courts in Gosman Athletic Center. Sophomore Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Laurel Springs) and rookie Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine / Falmouth) did not lose a game in the No. 1 matchup, winning, 8-0. At the No. 2 spot, rookie Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Spackenkill) and sophomore Charlotte Aaron (Phoenix, Ariz. / Arcadia) also controlled play, taking it, 8-2. Seniors Maya Vasser (New Rochelle, N.Y. / New Rochelle) and Sarita Biswas (Bedford, Mass. / Bedford) made the most of Biswas' first action since March 12, winning, 8-1.

The Judges' dominance continued into singles action, which took place outdoors on the Rieger Tennis Courts. Leavitt played the No. 1 singles matchup today, and breezed through it, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Emily Eska (Princeton, Mass. / Wachusett Regional) took the No. 2, 6-0, 6-1, while rookie Michele Lehat (Great Neck , N.Y. / John L. Miller Great Neck North) won the No. 3, 6-1, 6-1, in her first action since February 17 in California. Senior Hannah Marion (Hillsborough, N.C. / Cedar Ridge) also played for the first time since February 17 in the No. 5 spot, and won, 6-1, 6-0. Biswas rounded out Brandeis' victories with a sound 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Arielle Klopsis.

The Judges continue play again noon Sunday at home against Bates, head coach Ben Lamanna's alma mater.
