#28 women's tennis gets past Babson, 7-2

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The #28 Brandeis University women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over Babson College in their penultimate match of the season today.

The Judges took a 2-1 lead after doubles. Babson's Yagmur Akgul and Jenny Quenard won the No. 1 match, 8-4, but seniors Emily Eska (Princeton, Mass./Wachusett Regional) and Maya Vasser (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) won by the same score at No. 3. Sophomore Charlotte Aaron (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia) and rookie Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) earned a point at No. 2 as they led, 6-2, when their opponents withdrew due to injury.

In singles action,  Brandeis again dropped the match at the top of the lineup, but won the other five matches. Rookie Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over Quenard to avenge her doubles loss. Rookie Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J./Academy of Allied Sciences and Health) lost the fewest games for the Judges with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3.

He earned her second point of the day at No. 4, winning a second-set tiebreaker in the process, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3). Eska won the lone three-setter of the day. 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Vasser earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6.

The Judges round out their schedule with Senior Day tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. against Wesleyan University.
