WALTHAM, Massachusetts — Brandeis University rookie Sabrina Ross Neergaard of Port Orchard, Washington, has been named the University Athletic Association Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending October 23.

Competing against a trio of top-ranked teams at the Middlebury Hidden Dual Invitational, Ross Neergaard has the best weekend of any Brandeis player.

On the opening night of action, she teamed with sophomore Olivia Leavitt of Falmouth, Maine, for Brandeis's best doubles performance against third-ranked Middlebury, an 8-5 defeat.

In singles on Saturday afternoon, she picked up a pair of victories. Against the host Panthers, she earned a 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 10-7, win. The third set was played as a super tiebreaker. Against seventh-ranked Amherst, Ross Neergaard played in the No. 1 position and won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Brandeis and Amherst ended up splitting the singles matches, 3-3. In the final doubles matches on Sunday, she and Leavitt dropped an 8-5 match against Amherst and an 8-1 defeat against second-ranked Williams.

Ross Neergaard is a 2016 graduate of Laurel Springs Prep School.
