Ross Neergaard named UAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, March 13

WALTHAM, Mass. — Brandeis University first-year Sabrina Ross Neergaard of Port Orchard, Wash., has been selected as the University Athletic Association Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 12.

      Ross Neergaard went 4-0 as she helped the 21st-ranked Judges to a pair of wins over the weekend. In a 9-0 win over St. Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon, she and sophomore Olivia Leavitt of Falmouth, Maine, posted an 8-3 win at No. 1 singles. Ross Neergaard then won, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles to clinch the victory over the Saints.

      On Sunday against UAA opponent New York University, the tandem of Ross Neergaard and Leavitt opened the scoring for the Judges with an 8-4 win at No. 1. The Judges clinched a 5-4 victory over their rivals with Ross Neergaard's 6-3, 6-3, win at the top spot.

      Brandeis is 8-1 overall this season, and have attained their highest Intercollegiate Tennis Association national ranking in five years.

Ross Neergaard is a 2016 graduate of Laurel Springs Prep School.

Leavitt is a 2015 graduate of Falmouth High School.
