No. 18 Brandeis women's tennis falls to No. 12 Tufts

TUFTS, Ma. - The 18th-ranked Brandeis University women's tennis team suffered their third loss of the season on Wednesday afternoon at the hands of No. 12-ranked Tufts by a 6-3 score. The Judges' record is now 8-3, while the Jumbos improved to 5-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Judges started the afternoon off with a 2-1 lead after doubles.
  • Rookie Sabrina Ross Neergaard (Port Orchard, Wash./Laurel Springs School) and sophomore Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth) at the No. 1 spot came out with an 8-6 win over Mina Karamercan and Jacqueline Baum.
  • Sophomore Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) and junior Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J./Laurel Springs) had the other victory with a 9-8 (11-9) score over Katherine Wiley and Otilia Popa at No. 2.
  • Tufts won five of the six singles matches. The one victory came at No. 3 singles, where sophomore Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J. / Academy of Allied Health and Science) took Iwasaki, losing the first set 6-0 but coming back 6-3 in the second and taking the third 7-5. 
Brandeis returns to action on Thursday, March 30 with a home match against Babson.
