Women's Tennis Goes 16-6 at Wallach Doubles Invitational

LEWISTON, Maine – The Brandeis University women's tennis team compiled a 16-6 record in a the doubles-only Wallach Doubles Invitational held on Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September 17 at Bates College. The other teams that competed over the weekend were Bates, Wheaton (Mass.), Trinity, and Babson.

Rookie Rachel Zubrinsky (Waxhaw, N.C. / Marvin Ridge) had the most impressive individual record of any Judge, going 6-0 over the two-day tournament. Three of her teammates only suffered one loss apiece: Freshmen Lauren Bertsch (Middletown, R.I. / LaSalle Academy) and Isabel Cepeda (Mason, Ohio / William Mason) went 5-1, while sophomore Sabrina Ross Neergaard (Port Orchard, Wash. / Laurel Springs Prep.) went 4-1.

The Judges had two 3-0 pairings for the Invitational. The team of Bertsch/Neergaard achieved their record against foes from Babson, Trinity, and Colby. Junior Michele Lehat (Great Neck, N.Y. / John L. Miller Great Neck North) teamed up with Zubrinsky to go undefeated against the same trio of schools.

Brandeis is back in action the weekend beginning Friday, September 29 at the ITA Regionals at Williams College.
