Ross Neergaard claims UAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University sophomore Sabrina Ross Neergaard of Port Orchard, Washington, has been named the University Athletic Association Women's Tennis Player of the Week for February 5th.

Ross Neergaard, who won the weekly award from the UAA for the first time this year and the third time in her career, was honored for her performance in the Judges' first match of the season. On Saturday, February 3rd, Brandeis took on Division I Bryant University on the road in Rhode Island. Ross Neergaard teamed with junior Keren Khromchenko of Manalapan, New Jersey, for a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles, helping the Judges claim the doubles point in the match. In singles action, after the match was tied at 3-3, Ross Neergaard won a three-set match at No. 1, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, to give Brandeis the 4-3 victory. Last season, Ross Neergaard earned first-team All-UAA honors in singles and second-team honors in doubles.

The Judges entered the spring portion of their season ranked No. 19 in Division III, their highest pre-season ranking in school history. The Judges return to action in two weeks on February 20th when they take their annual California trip over February break. Brandeis will meet CalTech in the first of four matches.

Ross Neergaard is a 2016 graduate of Laurel Springs Prep School.
