Women's tennis closes fall season at Middlebury Hidden Duals

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Brandeis women's tennis team rounded out its fall 2018 season at the Middlebury Hidden Duals tournament over the weekend. The Judges met Williams and Middlebury in a series of head-to-head matches.

Sophomore Lauren Bertsch (Middletown, R.I. / LaSalle Academy) turned in Brandeis's top performance of the weekend, winning her two singles matches and one doubles contest. In singles action, she bested Maxine Ng of Williams, 6-1, 2-6, 10-3, and Emily Bian of Middlebury, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. In doubles, she and partner Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) defeated Ng and Emily Zheng of Williams, 8-5. The duo dropped two matches against Ann Martin Skelly and Christina Pucinelli of Middlebury, 8-3 on Saturday and 8-1 on Sunday.

Senior Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J./ Academy of Alied Health and Science) picked up a pair of singles wins, 6-1, 6-4, over Bian of Middlebury and 6-3, 6-1, over Zheng of Williams.

In the last round of matches of the weekend against Middlebury, Brandeis senior Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) earned a 6-4, 6-3, win over Skelly and rookie Ana Hatfield (Rockford, Ill. / Boylan Central Catholic) rallied to defeat Nora Dahl, 4-6, 7-5, 10-2.  

The Judges return to action next February with their annual spring break trip to California.
