#18 Women's tennis shuts out Wellesley, 9-0

The Brandeis women's tennis team ranked #18 in the nation defeated Wellesley College, 9-0. With the win the Judges improve to 7-4, while Wellesley falls to 9-4.

In doubles action, the Judges were dominant as duo of sophomore Lauren Bertsch (Middletown, R.I./LaSalle Academy) and senior Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) got things going at No. 1 with a 8-1 victory. At No. 2 it was a back and forth match, but duo of junior Diana Dehterevich (Minsk, Belarus / Secondary School #185 of Minsk) and senior Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J./Academy of Allied Health and Sciences) came out on top 8-7 (8-6). At No. 3 it was senior Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) and rookie Ana Hatfield (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) who completed the sweep with a 8-5 victory.

In singles action, the Judges kept up the stellar play led by sophomore Bertsch at No. 3 who earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory. At No. 1 junior Dehterevich claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win, while at No. 2 senior Leavitt claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win to keep it rolling for the Judges. Rookie Hatfield followed suit earning a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6, while senior He picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory. Finishing things out at No. 3 it was senior Khromchenko who pulled out a 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 victory to complete the sweep.

The Judges will be back in action tomorrow as they host NYU at 11:00 a.m.
