Selig lowers school record, just misses automatic qualifier in mile

BOSTON, Mass. -- Senior Grayce Selig (Narberth, Pa./Springside School) lowered her school record in the mile run for the first time this season at the 2011 Boston University Terrier Classic. With an NCAA provisional time of 4:54.82, she was the top collegiate runner in a field of 85, a full second ahead of the next-closest collegiate competitor from  Division I Dartmouth College. She was 0.72 seconds from recording the first automatic qualification in the mile this season.

Other top performances at the meet came from senior Lucia Capano (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Central). Capano came in eighth in the triple jump and second in Division III with a leap of exactly 11 meters (36 feet, 1 1/4 inches) and 11th overall and first among Division III competitors in the long jump witha distance of 4.95 meters (16 feet, 3 inches). Sophomore Kim Farrington (Shirley, Mass./Ayer) placed 14th in the triple jump (fourth in DIII) at 10.54 meters (34 feet, 7 inches).
