Track runs with DI, II and III at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brandeis track and field teams competed at the 2015 Brown University Invitational on Saturday afternoon against a variety of Division I, II and III opponents.

The Judges had several performances finish among the top three Division III competitors at the meet. The mile run saw some of  the best across the board, with rookie Ryan Stender (Amherst, Mass. / Amherst) placing third overall and first among D3 with a time of 4:27.89, while classmate Mitchell Hutton (Villa Park, Calif. / Villa Park) was just over a second behind in 4:28.96, fourth overall and 2nd in D3. In the women's mile, senior Kristi Pisarik (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) was fourth overall and tops in D3 with a time of 5:15.04, while rookie Kyra Shreeve (Northborough, Mass. / Algonquin Reg.) was sixth overall and second in D3 with a personal-best time of 5:21.03.

Four athletes qualified for the New England Division III Championships at the meet. Leading the way in the 5K were sophomore Kate Farrell (Windham, N.H. / Windham), whose personal-best time of 18:16.3 was fourth overall and third in D3, qualified her for the ECAC Division III Championships as well. Classmate Lydia McCaleb (Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) also qualified for New Englands with a p.r. time of 18:38.5 (5th overall, 4th D3). Junior Brian Louis (Elmont, N.Y. / Bishop Ford Central Catholic) leapt a distance of 13.14 meters/43 feet, 1 ½ inches in the triple jump, good for the second-best distance in the UAA this season. Rookie Haliana Burhans (Charlotte, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) was second in D3 and 7th overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.85 seconds.
