Running the distance for the first time this outdoor season, Emily Bryson edged Khia Kurtenbach of Chicago, as she had during cross country season. This time the margin of victory was 0.02.
Ryan Stender is headed to his first championship as the 12th seed in the 3K, while Emily Bryson is the 15th seed in the mile. The event is this Friday and Saturday at Grinnell College in Iowa.
For the fourth year in a row, the Brandeis women's distance medley relay finished in the top 3. Kelsey Whitaker has been part of all four of those teams, Haliana Burhans in two and Tove Freeman and Emily Bryson once each.
The Brandeis women won and men finished second as the Judges won nine events and had several top NCAA performances, including Maddie Dolins in the 3,000-meter run.
The Judges got three wins in the non-scoring event, including the second in as many races for rookie Doyin Ogundiran, who took the 600-meter dash in 1:47.60.
Sophomore Kyra Shreeve won the mile ahead of teammate Ashley Piccirillo-Horan. Rookies Doyin Ogundiran (800) and Julia Bryson (3K) also won for the women, while Roger LaCroix helped the Judges complete a mile sweep.
