NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Rookie Emily Bryson (Quincy, Mass./No. Quincy) continued her terrific year on Friday with a third-place finish at the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational.

Bryson was the top Division III runner in the 1,500-meter run, posting a time of 4:38.13, the second-fastest time in the University Athletic Association headed into next week's conference championships at Washington University. Bryson trailed only runners from D1 Vermont and D2 Franklin Pierce. She ran a top-30 time in Division III this season and qualified for the Open New England championships and ECAC Championships as well.

Two other Judges scored points in the 1,500-meters, with sophomore Kyra Shreeve (Northborough, Mass. / Algonquin Reg.) coming in 11th overall and sixth among scorers with a time of 4:48.88, a personal record. Senior Maggie Hensel (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna) 14th and eighth among scorers in 4:55.50.

Senior Kelsey Whitaker (Kingston, Mass./Notre Dame Acad.) also ran well for the Judges, placing sixth overall in the 800-meter run with a season-best 2:19.78, which was also the team's top time of the season and 14th in the UAA.

Senior Ashley Klein (Manalapan, N.J. / Manalapan) had a season-best throw in the javelin with a distance of 32.21 meters (105-8.5), the No. 4 toss in the UAA this season.

Overall, the Brandeis women finished 12th with 23 points.

On the men's side, senior Evan Scott (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) remained unbeaten in four meets this outdoor season in the high jump. He edged his nearest competitor from Tufts by one centimeter, 1.99m to 1.98m, a difference of a quarter of an inch.

The Judges had a pair of multiple scorers in field events. Senior Adam Berger (Concord, N.H./Concord) was third in the long jump (6.50 meters/21-4) and fourth in the triple jump (12.92 meters/42-4.75). He ranks fourth in the UAA in the long and fifth in the triple with those two season-best performances, while his triple jump was a lifetime best outdoor mark.

Classmate Kevin Trotman (Bristol, Conn. / Taft School) placed fifth in the shot put (14.50m/44-3.5) and sixth in the discus (39.59m/121-11). Trotman ranks in the top five in the UAA in both events.

Like the women, the men had multiple scorers in the 1,500-meters, as sophomore Mitchell Hutton (Villa Park, Calif. / Villa Park) ran a p.r. in the event with a time of 4:01.87, good for 12th overall and fifth among scoring competitors. Junior Quinton Hoey (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) added a 14th overall/7th scoring finish with a time of 4:02.59, also a career-best.

Senior Trevor Tuplin (Weymouth, Mass. / Weymouth) added a p.r. in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.54, good for eighth place.
