CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After competing at the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, the Judges sent seven athlets to the USATF New England Indoor Championship at Harvard University. The Judges competed against competitors from Brown University, Harvard University, Lasell College, Regis College, Roger Williams University, UMass Lowell, and various local track clubs at this non-scoring meet.

In the mile, the only running event the Judges contested, sophomore Julia Bryson (Quincy, Mass. / North Quincy) ran a near 5-second all-time PR of 5:10.76, outkicking senior teammate Maddie Dolins (Highland Park Illinois / Highland Park) who ran a 3-second PR of 5:13.71. Overall, Bryson and Dolins placed twelfth and fifteenth, respectively. More importantly, however, these marks place Bryson seventh in the UAA and Dolins twelfth. Should the two compete in the mile at the UAA Championship this weekend, they look to be in scoring position.

The remaining six athletes competed in the field events. On the women's side, it was quite simply junior Jordin Carter's (Fort Wayne, Ind. / R. Nelson Snyder) day. Placing sixth in the weight throw, her first throw, 13.47m (44 feet, 2.25 inches), was already a half-meter PR. Improving upon that mark each throw, Carter finished the day with a new PR of 13.86m (45 '5.75"). Only one centimeter off of a full-meter PR, this new mark bumps Carter up the UAA leaderboard from seventh to fifth. Carter's performance in the shot put–placing fourth with a throw of 10.64m (34' 11"), another PR–maintains her position as eighth in the UAA. Also on the women's side, rookie Kayla Fahey (Kingston, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional), returning from running a leg in the women's 4x400 meter relay at MIT the previous day, competed in the long jump.

In the men's shot put, sophomore Scott Grote (Greenfield Mass. / Greenfield) threw a 6-centimeter PR of 11.86m (38' 11") to place eighth. This mark maintains Grote's position as fifteenth in the UAA. Teammate and fellow sophomore Sam Charnizon (Scarsdale, N.Y. / Edgemont Junior-Senior) threw 9.18m (30' 1.50") to place fifteenth. Charnizon also made an appearance in the weight throw, placing sixteenth with a massive, nearly 2 foot PR of 9.13m (29' 11.50").

On his third week of jumping after having not competed since last May due to injury, senior Mark Franklin (Auburn, N.H. / Pinkerton Acad.) tied for fourth in the high jump with 1.83m (6' 0"). A season best, this places Franklin ninth in the UAA, directly behind teammate Jack Allan (Wrentham, Mass. / King Phillip Regional).

The Judges host the UAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday and Sunday at Gosman.
