NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Brandeis University sophomore Emily Bryson of Quincy, Mass., has qualified for tomorrow's final in the mile run at the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at North Central College.

Bryson, who was seeded third in the event headed into the championships, finished second in her heat to earn an automatic berth in the finals. Her time of 5:00.91 edged third-place Marissa Coombs of Virginia Wesleyan by one one-hundredth of a second but was safely into the automatic qualifying range by 0.27 seconds. Bryson will be the fourth seed in tomorrow's final, which will be run at 2:00 p.m. Eastern (1:00 Central).

Bryson has already earned mile run championships this year at the University Athletic Association championship - held at Brandeis in February - and at the New England Division III championships. She is one of two UAA runners (along with Samantha Kitcher, Rochester) and three from New England (Maryanne Gong, MIT, and Victoria Kingham, Williams) to reach tomorrow's final.

Bryson is also seeded seventh the 3,000-meter finals tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. Eastern (4:00 Central). She is search of her third and fourth career All-America honors. The previous two were earned in cross country as a freshman and sophomore.

Bryson is looking to become Brandeis's second woman to earn All-America honors indoors in the mile run. She hopes to join Grayce Selig '11, who finished second in the mile in 2011. That was also Brandeis women's track and field's last All-America performance during the indoor season.
