GENEVA, Ohio – Brandeis University sophomore Emily Bryson (Quincy, Mass./No. Quincy) finished out the 2016-17 season for the Judges today competing in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute at Geneva, Ohio.
Bryson, who battled fevers all week, finished in 12th place with a time of 4:47.53. She was able to stay within close range of the lead pack through the first 700 meters, running 2:05.52, putting her less than two seconds behind second place. Over the course of laps three and four, the fatigue of illness caught up with Bryson as the lead pack pulled away.
"This was such bad luck for Emily," said head coach Sinead Evans. "She was so fit and looked awesome over the course of last two weeks. It was impressive for her to even reach the finals."
Seeded 9th headed into the meet, Bryson wrapped up her fifth appearance in two years at the NCAA Championships. The two-time All-American will look to build on that total in the fall during cross country season and over the course of the next two years.
