WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University track and field teams will send four members – three women and one man –  to this week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, from Thursday, May 23 through Saturday, May 25. This will be Brandeis's largest contingent at the NCAA Outdoor championships since 2002.

Leading the way for the Brandeis women will be senior Emily Bryson of Quincy, Massachusetts. Bryson will look to cap her outstanding career with her first career All-America honor during the outdoor season. She enters the championship meet as the top seed in the 1,500-meter run, where she ran a school-record 4:23.02 at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational. Bryson owns the nation's fastest time by nearly five seconds. She is an eight-time All-American in cross country and indoor track and field, winning three national championships indoors in the mile, 3,000-meter run and distance medley relay. As a sophomore, Bryson finished 12^th in the 1,500-meter run outdoors, and last year she was 13^th in the 5,000-meters. The 1,500-meter prelims are at 3:55 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, with the finals Saturday at 12:25 p.m.

Senior Doyin Ogundiran of Dix Hills, New York, will be in search of her first individual All-America honor in the 800-meter run. A two-time All-American as a member of Brandeis distance medley relay teams, Ogundiran has competed as an individual in the last two outdoor championships. She finished 16^th as a sophomore and 14^th last year. Ogundiran's top time this season was a 2:13.20 at the University Athletic Association championships, and she will enter the meet as the 15^th seed. The 800-meter prelims are Friday at 4:15 p.m. with the finals at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday.

Rounding out the women's qualifiers is rookie Jac Guerra of Guilford, Connecticut, who qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Guerra is Brandeis's first qualifier in that event since Caitlin Malloy '03 in 2003. Guerra snagged one of the final spots in the field with a time of 11:00.28 at a Last Chance meet at MIT last Thursday. Guerra is already a three-time NCAA qualifier, having run at the cross country championships in the fall, and in the mile in the winter, where he finished 12^th. The steeplechase prelims are 5:25 p.m. on Thursday with the finals at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, the first running event of the day.

For the men, the Judges will be represented by senior Scott Grote of Greenfield, Massachusetts, in the discus throw. Grote is Brandeis's first discus thrower to reach the NCAA Championships since 1986, when Hall of Fame member Greg Steelman '86 finished fourth, a year after winning a national title. Grote's qualifying throw came at the New England Division III Championships, where he won the title with a personal-best toss of 50.10 meters (164 feet, 4 inches). He will enter the meet ranked 19^th. The discus is the first event of the meet to be contested, kicking off with prelims at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, with finals immediately after.
